Zafer Akin, the founding member of the Akin & Salaman, is a litigator focusing on employment law (sexual harassment, employment discrimination, hostile work environment, wrongful termination, prevailing wages, wage and hour, overtime, minimum wage) and personal injury (tort law) claims.

Mr. Akin has been in active practice since 1995 representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants. Mr. Akin is currently accepting private mediation and arbitration claims in New York and New Jersey.

Currently, approximately 80% of Mr. Akin’s practice is devoted to employment law (FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA NJLAD, NYSHRL and NYCHRL), 10% devoted to personal injury matters and a 10% devoted to general practice.

Over the past 25 years, Mr. Akin settled thousands of cases by mediating and arbitrating hundreds of claims as a participant on both sides. Just as an example, in Mr. Akin participated in 18 mediations in 2019, 27 mediations in 2018, and 21 mediations in 2017.  In addition to arbitration and mediation, Mr. Akin has a vast amount of experience litigating cases in both the State and Federal Courts.

Although Mr. Akin engages in varies pro-bono activities, he is most proud of having been recognized by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (New Jersey) and for having been recognized by the New York State Trial Lawyers’ Cares Team for the services and free legal representation provided to New York and New Jersey families of 9/11.
