Hillary Clinton promotes the Woman Card
Donald Trump recently gave a speech that included degrading remarks against his competitor’s, Hillary Clinton, presidential campaign. Trump alleged that Hillary’s primary focus in her campaign is the woman card. He further explained that most women do not like the “female candidate.” In spite of Trump’s negativity, Clinton launched a fundraiser that allowed her advocates to obtain an actual women card.
In addition to Clinton’s fundraiser that promotes gender equality, Trump received a response from the secretary of state saying, “if fighting for women’s health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the ‘woman card,’ then deal me in.” Many women could relate to the secretary of state’s perspective considering they’re exhausted from fighting for their rights, and the time for change has arrived. Gender-based discrimination is a major problem in the U.S. that the current presidential candidates have addressed in different ways. For example, while Hillary innovate ideas to rectify the problem, especially in the workplace, Trump condones the issue. Poll reveals over 50% of Women face Gender Discrimination
Over a two-week period, April 11th through April 24th, NBC News SurveyMonkey conducted a poll regarding gender-based discrimination amongst 12,894 adults. The poll consisted of multiple questions regarding the way women are treated and gender present day. According to the poll, more than half of the women in the U.S. endured gender discrimination. In contrast, 35% percent of respondents said they have not faced gender-based discrimination. The poll also questioned if opportunities for men and women were equal. The results indicated 51% of women said equality in opportunities for growth and accomplishments have not been established, and 36% of women said equality in opportunities does exist. Although the poll does not pinpoint women solely in the workplace, a large amount of the respondents are working women battling gender-based discrimination. Women in politics were surveyed and the findings disclosed that more Democratic women endured race discrimination than Republican women. Forty-six percent of Independent women claim they have tolerated gender discrimination. Clinton and Trump view gender discrimination differently and the results from their advocates explains why. Only 27% of Democratic individuals who responded to the survey agreed that equal opportunities were available for both men and women. Forty-nine percent of Republican respondents said there is equality in the opportunities, and 36% of Independent women agreed.
